About the Salon du Thé

Conceived by Gideon Reeling and developed in partnership with Arts Council England and Corn Exchange Newbury, ‘The Salon Du Thé’ is a theatre-cum-fine dining experience or an ‘Edible Performance’ if you like. 

Exploring the culture surrounding the traditional Afternoon Tea the events are designed for audiences of 50 people and upwards. The Salon will be touring the British countryside and beyond from Autumn 2011. It will visit beautiful historic houses, exciting theatrical locations, festivals and who knows where else…

Gideon Reeling

Gideon Reeling make truly interactive, site-specific theatrical experiences in which audience participation and a sense of inclusive playfulness are paramount.

The company was founded in 2006 and has created work for a wide variety of sites and occasions including the creation and curation of the Dingly Dell yearly at Camp Bestival, and theatrical consultancy and installation for the National Trust (Ham and Stratford Hub). Installations at festivals include: Aldeburgh, Glastonbury and The Big Chill. Gideon Reeling have worked extensively with brands including Southern Comfort, Fiat and Diesel. Theatrical based parties include 8 months of after show weekend celebrations at Punchdrunk’s Masque of the Red Death. The company have also created interactive/immersive games for the V&A, K-Swiss & The BFI and workshops for Soho Theatre as well as co-founding The Hide and Seek games festival.

Lily Vanilli

Lily Vanilli is an East London artisan baker and cake designer. Her dedication to selecting only the highest quality, freshest, fairtrade ingredients, combined with her avantgarde cake designs and delicious recipes has won her a loyal fanbase and most recently seen her invited to stock Harrods Food Hall with gourmet cupcakes. Lily Vanilli’s have been enjoyed by Elton John’s White Tie & Tiara Ball, Henry Holland, Sadie Frost, Vogue, Hello  Kitty, Levis, Courvoisier, Saatchi Gallery, Nuno Mendez: The Loft and Downing Street. Lily Vanilli is a self taught baker who is passionate about food. She recently curated "Cake Britain" the world's first fully edible art exhibition, and is a member of the underground Experimental Food Society, an organisation formed to front the UK’s most talented culinary creatives.

Life's a Picnic
